Got this last week from Mike Tull and hadn’t had a chance to fire it out till now. Tully has been been holding things down in Toronto with his Bump n’ Hustle monthly for what must be ten years now, with another T-Dot vet, Paul E. Lopez (who amazingly, doesn’t have a Myspace page.) I never get to hear Mike play, because of our conflicting schedules, but this works good too.

Whut up everybody??!! It’s Friday and i don’t know where you live but in Toronto its 31 degrees Celsius. The weekend, which was supposed to nothing but rain, is looking better. I’m in the lab compiling songs for a 2cd dj mix of pure cottage rock and a “on the beach” mix. So, i’m gonna drop two trax which will probably make it to the mix. werd.
Sun Sun Sun!!!!! (wait for the drop around 3:00, you’re mind will melt like so much ice cream in tha sun)
Its only Tuesday but i am still destroyed from Friday. I asked the other Dmoney heads who were there and the feeling is mutual: Egyptian Lover killed it and left everyone in the place exhausted. For all those who didn’t get to bare witness to Egypt’s first live performance in Canada, (yes he’s never played in Canada, what up with that??) we will be putting up some of the video of his performance at Wrongbar from last week. He beat juggled some classics, freaked on the 808, and then went on to perform all the classics with his hypeman, Jamie Jupiter. werd.
A couple weeks back (May 17th) Dmoney threw another installment of our ongoing semi-annual series, the DRUGS party. It’s basically songs about drugs or by infamous druggies or just songs that sound like they’re about drugs, even though they’re not. For this installment we were joined by Cousin Cole (Flagrant Fowl, NY), whose been blowing up the internets with his remixes, and Caps N’ Jones (Philly/NY), who are two of the best genre-jumping DJs out there. They all did a killer job.....unfortunately technical issues ruined our recordings of their sets (were gonna try to get them to redo it). All that could be salvaged was my (Dougie’s) early set but hey lets post it. Enjoy.

Whut up y’all??!!!
This is the obligatory First Blog Post for the DMoney Underdogs Blog (dun dun dun da!). There’s always gotta be a first. For DMoney, we got our firsts throwing jams in hole-in-the-wall bars and dives, making the kids dance and not playing up to ever pervading cliches (in our flyers, music, etc). So, we hope to continue this attitude in our blog (ie. not posting what everybody is posting).
Expect to see and hear great thangs with contributions from some of Toronto’s finest DJs, producers and promoters in the DMoney family:
